Cajun Shrimp BoilTreva, my good friend and neighbor, invited me over for dinner.
She is from Louisiana and made a Cajun Shrimp Boil that was
simple to do and absolutely delicious.
This is great for serving guests. Salad and dessert can be
fixed ahead of time and all the rest is cooked in one large pot.
Clean-up is minimal.
Treva made hush puppies (mix from a box) but your own choice
of bread, any leafy salad and your favorite dessert would go just fine.
For a tablecloth she used newspapers. Nice touch and a great idea.
Saves the tablecloth and an easy clean up.
I went on-line and found and copied the recipe. There was even a
picture of the Shrimp Boil being put on the newspaper. Treva did not
place the Shrimp on the newspapers as in the picture below. She
placed it in large platters.
Cajun Shrimp Boil
![]() Crab boil, 2 teaspoons per quart of water
12 red new potatoes 6 (4-inch) smoked sausage link sausage 6 ears corn
3 pounds fresh shrimp, unpeeled (Treva used andouille....a Cajun sausage,
but if you can't fine it the smoked sausage
will do fine. She also tied the crab boil in
cheesecloth but as the online recipe did
not call for that I say.........simplify) Fill a large pot with enough water to cover all of the ingredients.
Add the crab boil and bring to a boil. Adjust the crab boil to suit
your taste. When the water boils, add the potatoes and sausage.
Cook on medium heat for 20 minutes. Add corn and cook for an
additional 10 minutes. Add shrimp and cook for no more than 3
minutes. Drain and serve with warm bread.
Hope you try it and enjoy.... 引用通告此日志的引用通告 URL 是: http://hilbilymilykitchen.spaces.live.com/blog/cns!99809F38A0C1501E!133.trak 引用此项的网络日志
